Confluence - armchairs
The profile geometry of this armchair is inspired by the aerial photographs of the confluences - where two rivers merge together. The organic lines of the wood frame are divided by a single sharp line, giving each half its own starting point, an uninterrupted and elegant direction. The geometry of the frame is calculated based on the ergonomics study to provide the end-user with the most comfortable experience and the proper back support

I wanted this design to hit all aspects of a successful product: proper ergonomics, uniqueness, and build quality. I created a structural element that holds the entire frame together and provides uncompromising durability. The h-shape welded steel frame eliminated any typical side movements which loosen up the entire assembly over time. This accent element can be painted in a variety of colors to fit the customer's taste and the interior color palette.

My intention was to make this armchair look interesting from all sides. 6 mm carbon fiber rods became a beautiful solution to this wish. They provided a perfect spring-back effect that I was looking for. Ten rods are spaced apart evenly along the bottom rail to support the weight of the user. Back support has 10 rods as well with a larger space in the middle which normally has no pressure from the human body. The frame weight is only 16 pounds.
